Altitude

I got a message the other day that looked like this: MSG,5,2840,388114, 09A027 ,3009775,2012/11/11,18:20:17.136,2012/11/11,18:20:17.558,, -99999 ,,,,,,,0,,0,0 I've never seen an altitude come out as -99999 before. This was from an SBS-1 classic, and at the time three other receivers of mine includin...

So I guess the UK doesn't have "truth in advertising" laws? :) Ok, thanks.

SBS-3 UAT support

The latest SBS-3 ads mention UAT ... is that for the 978MHz stuff, or is it for TIS-B on 1090MHz?

Thanks just the same, although I'm not looking for a piece of hardware to solve a problem. i'm simply looking to document a problem in the SBS-1.

Re: SBS-1 loosing connection after 2-3 weeks

At some point you are going to have to realize the SBS-1 is a defective product for your particular application, and that since it is no longer supported, you will have to find a replacement product. Might as well be now. There's nothing about this defect that's a show-stopper for me; it's annoying...

Re: SBS-1 loosing connection after 2-3 weeks

The remote power switch is ethernet enabled, so you can control it from anywhere without the need of an extra computer. I'm having a hard time understanding what your motivation is here. I've already said that I can't easily power cycle the SBS-1 (in fact if you rad the whole topic, you'll see the ...

Re: SBS-1 loosing connection after 2-3 weeks

There are more cost effective ways than travel, or wearing out the onboard flash :D Maybe. Mine runs off 12v and is behind a firewall with a reverse VPN, so I'd have to add another computer as well and some way to do it with 12V. On the other hand, this has only happened perhaps a dozen times in th...

Re: SBS-1 loosing connection after 2-3 weeks

Reloading as in a powercycle, or a fw re-flash? Firmware re-flash. When my SBS-1 classic does that all I need to do is a powercycle for the box to start working again. Scroll up in the thread :) This box is an 8 hour drive from here (or a flight plus a three hour drive). I have no practical way to ...

STA ... OK

I've noticed recently that I might see a list of messages like this on port 30003: STA,,52,14156,XXXXXX,770799,2011/12/05,17:41:52.221,2011/12/05,17:41:52.221,PL STA,,52,14156,XXXXXX,770799,2011/12/05,17:41:57.219,2011/12/05,17:41:57.219,SL STA,,52,14156,XXXXXX,770799,2011/12/05,17:43:09.695,2011/12...

Re: SBS-1 loosing connection after 2-3 weeks

If you're running Basestation v159, next time it happens change the data source from USB to Network and then back again. Does Basestation then start displaying data? Ok, I had an SBS-1 classic drop out on me this morning, so I took the opportunity to try this trick. No dice. Running v159 on Windows...

Future database directions ...?

I wonder if any work is being done on future directions for the database? I know that most of the features that one might want from a database can typically be implemented without a change to BaseStation, but one issue I've been wondering about is the linkage between the Aircraft and Flights tables:...
