SDR Puck Interfaces?

Can the SDR Puck or the 1090 Puck be used outside of the BaseStation Software? I'm looking to interface it with a linux system like a Raspberry Pi.

Re: Periodic plane drop

Awesome answer, thanks bones!

A friend of mine has a box about 75km away from me and sees the same issue but usually not with the same aircraft I do at he same time. Are temperature inversions that regionally specific, or could it be combo inversion with antenna?

Periodic plane drop

I've got a reliable setup and am about 50 miles from an airport. Occasionally I'll watch aircraft takeoff and blink out of existence 50 miles from me well within previous coverage ranges. I'll pickup aircraft well beyond it when it drops along its flight path, but aside from a few mode-s or acars sq...

Re: Interpret an actual ATC screen?

To answer my own post ;) Special cases: ‘T’ = temporary altitude, ‘C’ = Mode C altitude, ‘B’ = Altitude range. ###C – The mode C altitude reported by the aircraft. This is reported if the mode C altitude is greater than 200 feet from its assigned altitude. ###T - The altitude that an aircraft has be...

Interpret an actual ATC screen?

I'm watching this video of an ATC screen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCArmtCFjpY And I notice the altitudes have letters at the end, and I can't figure out what it is. UAL451 is at altitude 360C. SWA1994 is at 350T350 AAL20723 is 390(up arrow?)377. Anyone know what the C/T means? OR is there an ...

Keep last radio tuning?

I am *not* running the latest firmware, so maybe it's in there. But does someone have a trick to put different radio frequencies into the app and have them persist inbetween restarts with the radio in its last known state (on/off)? Dorking with a portable setup, trying to keep things going between r...

GPS for Non-ADSB Supplement?

There is a GPS option in the BS software, but does it affect the port 30003 datastream in any way? I'd like to travel more with my SBS, but I'd like to be able to somewhat have a location for the Mode-S transmissions without location. I don't mind it being within X miles of my location. If the built...

Illegal in what Countries?

Hi,

I seem to remember a disclaimer that it's illegal to use the SBS in some countries. Does anyone know which countries? I presume it's countries that you can't sell an SBS to?

thanks!

Search seems busted. There once was someone working on a Mac version for the SBS. Did that go away, move forward? Can't seem to find the reference to the status on the boards..

I get that having an unexplainable transmission is the last thing anyone would want to troubleshoot, but can you tell me what other factors might be involved? Hate to see this drop, would like to know what else it could have been..

Re: SBS-1 loosing connection after 2-3 weeks

Just an aside, I tried to use the hack program by piotr to access the firmware direct, about six months ago (windows and linux), and it seemed to lose sync every minute, and then blow-out to the command-line. I don't remember having to unplug the USB though to reset it, but it's been awhile, and th...

Re: SBS-1 loosing connection after 2-3 weeks

This hit me last week.. After running for 3 months straight! All of a sudden the BS wasn't showing any aircraft (I typically cover 200+miles with an outdoor antenna, so this was a giant warning sign). I restarted the PC, and got nothing. Later that day, it was back up on it's own showing aircraft. T...
