SBS-3: Multiple simultanous connections possible?

Dear Group Just a short technical question: Is it possible to open multiple simultanous connections to the raw data port of an SBS-3? At the moment, i don't own a SBS-3, so i am not able to test it. The goal would be to create a network of a few SBS-3 receivers and having two (redundant) computers w...

Re: New ADS-B Sharing System

I think any sharing system should not be based on a proprietary protocol. I completely agree with you. That’s the reason why this sharing system is based on the good documented port 30003-format of Basestation which is used by a lot of other applications to import and export data. Unfortunately, Ba...

Re: New ADS-B Sharing System

Not strictly correct: http://radarspotters.eu/forum/index.php/topic,443.0.html Ok, I was imprecise. I should have written that there is no officially documented way to import / display shared data using the Basestation software. But as your mentioned example is showing, it is possible to do it. Agr...

Re: New ADS-B Sharing System

As Lee already mentioned, I can't place non-numeric characters in this fields as they are defined as numeric/float. Sending characters in these fields would make the stream useless for most post-processing tools like PP, Virtual Radar Server and so on. On the other hand, if we would define an altern...

Re: New ADS-B Sharing System

Yes, at the moment we are only processing messages including position information: As soon as we receive position messages of a plane (MSG2 / MSG3 in Port 30003 Format), we are processing all data of this plane (MSG1/MSG4/MSG5/MSG6) and are reproducing the messages in the sharing clients as close to...

Re: New ADS-B Sharing System

Since "Comet" technology came of age, I am surprised people are still writing raw TCP applications In our aproach, we want to offer all the data to all the clients, and we want to do this withoug using huge amounts of bandwidth. Web-based technologies like soap, webservices etc. are of co...

Re: New ADS-B Sharing System

Won't that cause a problem with tracks jumping around? No, nothing is jumping around. First a few basics: The upload-rate (from the client to the server) is 2 s. Ths means, every 2 s, every client is uploading all its tracks to the server. There is a NTP-client included in the client which checks w...

Re: Data sharing / combining data of multiple SBS-1 boxes

Edgy31 and Andy: Thank you for your suggestions. Basically, my goal was not to feed Basestation with tracks, but in the meantime i learned that a lot of potential users would be interested in using my sharing tool if they could 'see' the tracks allready in Basestation, not only in PlanePlotter. Unfo...

Re: Data sharing / combining data of multiple SBS-1 boxes

Does your server resend the MSG,8 data? Just curious, as that message contains most of the noise on the socket. It only provides hexid, and isOnGround, and those are available in the other messages. It's too bad that the radarbox doesn't use all of the booleans (SPI alert, etc). MSG8: No. I am just...

Re: Data sharing / combining data of multiple SBS-1 boxes

How does PP determine if it is local? The database references in the socket data?? I can't speek for the developper of PP, but it's true, it can be done like this: local data from my client is looking like this: MSG,5,38,2118,441249,57048,2010/06/13,05:34:02.062,2010/05/03,05:34:02.250,,43025,,,,,,...

Re: Data sharing / combining data of multiple SBS-1 boxes

Probably that is the best plan. You probably don't want users to forward the data to the PP server though. Good point, but not a problem: PlanePlotter and my sharing tool are working together sience PP version 5.4.9.1. This means that PP is able to distinguish between local data (received by the lo...

Re: Data sharing / combining data of multiple SBS-1 boxes

Dear group The current state is: The application has been tested by users in greece, turkey and france. It is working fine as designed, i.e. the data in "Port 30003-format" is getting shared with a low demand of bandwidth. The demand of bandwidth is as follows: - to upload the data of 50 p...

Re: Data sharing / combining data of multiple SBS-1 boxes

Dear group The developpment of the first version of my application is almost completed. At the moment, i am running some inhouse-tests with five simulators which are replaying recorded data to get a feeling for the performance and to check for memory-problems. It's looking very good for now... The c...

Re: Data sharing / combining data of multiple SBS-1 boxes
